Here is a shot of the body in the jig for routing out the neck pocket. The top is made of white spruce that we salvaged in 1988 from a tree that was cut in the town of Wellesley. It was a yard tree, so the rain lines are wide, but the stiffness is really good, and it makes an excellent sounding instrument, even if it is “cosmetically challenged.”
A detail shot of the back shoulder and heel shows the wood itself. I used some curly maple for the neck (what the heck!).
